Workplace Fairness Act 2025: A Practical Guide for Employers and HR

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

This full-day workshop offers a comprehensive guide to the Workplace Fairness Act 2025 (WFA), equipping participants with a deeper understanding of the legislation and its implications for organisational practices. The session begins with an overview of the WFA’s provisions including the 11 protected characteristics, highlighting key exceptions and how they apply to day-to-day hiring decisions of an employer.

Participants will then engage in interactive exercises covering common risk areas, including drafting fair job descriptions, avoiding discriminatory questions during interviews, and recognising how unconscious bias can affect staff management. These practical activities are designed to build both awareness and actionable skills, ensuring that HR professionals and managers can translate the law into fair and effective workplace practices.

The day concludes with a grievance case simulation based on a scenario of discrimination. Participants will apply their knowledge of the WFA and company grievance procedures to manage the complaint step by step, practicing how to respond fairly and empathetically. This experiential learning ensures that participants leave confident in both their knowledge and their ability to act effectively in real workplace situations.
