Leading with Empathy: Managing Harassment Complaints with Care and Compliance

WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

This 2-hour introductory workshop takes a case study-driven approach to introduce participants to what behaviours constitute workplace sexual harassment, bullying and discrimination.

Through a review of their company’s respect and conduct policies, the participants will be reminded of the importance of responding effectively and empathetically to complaints of inappropriate workplace conduct, to minimise any compliance or reputational risk to their organisation.

The session is designed to be engaging and thought provoking, encouraging reflection and discussion.  Participants will walk away with a clearer understanding of how to manage a safe and respectful workplace.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Better identify inappropriate workplace behaviours, including more subtle behaviours that could nevertheless damage a workplace culture of respect.

  • Better understand their responsibilities when responding to complaints of inappropriate workplace behaviour.

  • Reflect on how a dismissive managerial response might lead to reputation and compliance risk for their organisation.

  • Apply practical insights from case studies to help foster a culture of respect.
